Pond off Suter Drive, Thorpe Marriott

Members of Draituna Trees are working in partnership with Broadland District Council, and the Norwich Fringe, to help improve the pond and its surrounding area as an ecological amenity for residents. Volunteers are welcome to join in activities! Contact us for details if you would like to get involved in the future..

Pond Tidy - Saturday 12th February 2011

One of the regular events took place on this day, removing rubbish from in and around the pond and barbed wire from the surrounds, as well as tidying the edges and hedges. We also did some extra hedge planting along Acres Way. We are always happy to welcome volunteers to assist in this work.

Bulb Planting - Saturday 16th October 2010

Thanks to James Thorpe, the Climate Change Officer at Broadland District Council, who donated the bulbs, we were able to plant lots of crocuses in the green spaces around the Pond. Parents and children from Drayton Infants' school were keen participants in this! We were pleased to see that many of the crocuses appeared this Spring, 2011!

July 2010

We were all delighted that the Pond received a Green Award, second place, from Broadland District Council.

What is happening to the pond? And who is doing it?

The Norwich Fringe Project is working in Partnership with Peter Leggett, Street Scene Officer at Broadland District Council, to aid the refurbishment of the pond area at Suter Drive. The Project produced a contract specification of works which included the repair of the path from Suter Drive to the Pond and onto Marriott Way, coppicing of willow trees and new fencing and kissing gates and hedge planting. This work has now been completed.
