Annual General Meeting
The AGM for 2011 took place at Drayton Infants' School, school hall, on Wednesday 8th June at 7pm We welcomed Stephen Chesney-Beales, Tree Officer of Broadland District Council, Pete Leggett, Street Scene Officer from BDC and Roger Nash, ward councillor for Drayton North.
Phil Rees gave a presentation about the work of the group, from its beginnings and described the activities that are anticipated in the future. These will include working in collaboration with Broadland Street Cleaning Team to spread some TLC over the Pond! Members of the group regularly work around, and in the Pond to clean and enhance the area.
We also are preparing to support the work of the parish council to do more tree and hedge planting at various locations, including Florence Carter Playing Field, Longdale Recreation Field and the King George V Playing Field in the autumn. If you read the last edition of The Chronicle, you will have seen us in action planting the Plane tree and three Grey Alders at Florence Carter Playing Field! So we have made a start!
Our small plantation at the top of Longdale is doing well this year, despite the drought. Although we have lost trees because of this, many are now growing strongly. We will replace all losses in our usual autumn planting.
We are keen to recruit new volunteers to help with our autumn plantings, tidying the Pond etc, so if you feel you have time to spare, have some stout shoes, warm gloves and a woollen hat (obligatory, I’m afraid!) please do check our website for details of how to contact us or phone Sara, our chair, on 01603 425874. We are also looking for new members to serve on our committee, so if you are keen to get involved in a local voluntary organisation do get in touch. Check our contact page for details
